COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND RECREATION DIRECTOR

 

The Community Development and Recreation Director is responsible for building a stronger community through recreation, sports, parks and culture.   This full time permanent position will report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer and will supervise the operation of all the Town of Esterhazy leisure facilities.

 

The successful candidate is accountable for the development of policy for the community development area.  The candidate must develop and implement plans, strategies and mechanisms for carrying out the policies.  They must possess positive public relations (the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders), and work in partnership with the local community to support neighborhood and family networks to facilitate local participation and access to facilities and services.    This individual must have superior organizational skills as they are to manage and facilitate the development of viable programs/projects with various program priorities.

 

The Community Development and Recreation Director will assist in the preparation and control of the annual Community Development, Parks Recreation and Culture budget. This individual must research, write and administer all grant applications pertaining to recreation and their premises. 

 

The successful candidate must reside within Esterhazy and have a valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle.  They must be prepared to work irregular hours and weekends to oversee events or various programs (37.5 hour work week).

 

Qualified candidates will have a degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or Recreation Administration including a minimum of 5 years municipal practice or a combination of practice, education and demonstrated expertise and abilities.

CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER 

The Town of Esterhazy invites applications for the position of Chief Administrative Officer. The town is located along highway 22, 76 kilometers southeast of Yorkton. Esterhazy is a prosperous, industrial and agricultural community of over 3,200 (2017 Covered Health Population) located in the southeastern corner of Saskatchewan. Esterhazy is situated between two scenic valleys and is home to three potash mines, owned and operated by The Mosaic Company.

As a major service centre for the area, Esterhazy offers more than 80 categories of local and national franchise businesses that service a trading area of 10,000 people.  It is also a major centre for public services including health care and education.

The Chief Administrative Officer will be responsible to the Town Council for the management and operations of all the affairs of the Town, in accordance with the policies established by Town Council and The Municipalities Act.  As the Chief Administrative Officer, the position has management and control of all issues and matters pertaining to the day-to-day operation of the Town.  The Chief Administrative Officer has supervision responsibilities over departments and/or officers currently or may be created or appointed in the future. 

The minimum requirement for this position is an Urban Standard Certificate or working towards obtaining their certificate.  Experience in municipal government
budgeting, financial operations, assessment, taxation, legislative interpretation and MuniSoft software are a definite asset.  Candidate must possess positive public relations, management, the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders and superior organizational skills.  The successful candidate must live in Esterhazy and have a valid driver’s license.  The start date is as soon as possible, however, this position will remain open until a successful applicant is selected.
